Pokémon Ascended Heroes starring Mega Dragonite ex has now been officially revealed, marking the beginning of what promises to be one of the most exciting Pokémon TCG releases of the coming year.
As mentioned previously, Ascended Heroes is set to be our next special English set, and anticipation has been steadily rising within the community. The first wave of products is scheduled to arrive on 30 January, giving fans an early-year treat to look forward to. More products are planned to release throughout 2026, ensuring that the set remains in the spotlight well into next year and continues to expand with fresh items and new card reveals.
At the moment, not every product in the range has been officially announced. We are still awaiting the comprehensive press release from The Pokémon Company, which will include full product breakdowns, card lists, artwork previews, and precise release dates for upcoming items. Until then, information will continue to trickle out gradually.
As with all special sets, Ascended Heroes will not be available in the form of individual booster packs or sealed booster boxes. Instead, booster packs from the set will be distributed exclusively through themed products such as collection boxes, gift sets, and other limited-edition items. This approach has become a defining feature of special releases and adds an extra layer of collectability, as fans must choose from themed product lines to experience the set rather than purchasing traditional booster boxes.
Ascended Heroes will feature a wide selection of cards from Japan’s MEGA Dream ex expansion, which is scheduled to release on 28 November. This Japanese set introduces several powerful and visually striking Mega Evolution cards, many of which will make their way into our English release. In addition to content from MEGA Dream ex, Ascended Heroes will also include brand new cards originating from the Start Deck 100 Battle Collection, including the much-talked-about Mega Charizard Y ex. This card has already generated considerable excitement, and its presence in Ascended Heroes is expected to make the set even more desirable for collectors and competitive players alike.
To reflect the inclusion of Mega Charizard Y ex, the English booster artwork has been altered to replace Mega Hawlucha and Mega Eelektross with Mega Charizard Y. This change gives the English version of the set its own unique visual identity and reinforces the central role that Charizard often plays in Western releases. The updated artwork is already a talking point among fans, many of whom are eager to see more of the set’s packaging and promotional materials as they are revealed.
Looking beyond Ascended Heroes, it is highly likely that we will receive a second special English set next summer or autumn, continuing the annual trend of multiple special releases. With the thirtieth anniversary of the Pokémon Trading Card Game approaching, speculation is growing that the next special set could be designed to celebrate this major milestone. The original Pokémon TCG launched in Japan in October 1996, and fans are hoping that The Pokémon Company will mark the occasion with a commemorative set, special reprints, or nostalgic artwork inspired by the earliest days of the game.
Regardless of what comes next, it is clear that 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting and memorable year for Pokémon TCG players and collectors. Ascended Heroes starring Mega Dragonite ex is only the beginning, and the months ahead promise to deliver plenty of surprises, reveals, and collectible highlights. Stay tuned for more information as soon as it becomes available.
