Next Pokémon English Special Set Revealed: Ascended Heroes
The Pokémon TCG community can finally stop guessing, our next English special set has a confirmed name, and it’s a dramatic one: Ascended Heroes. While the official announcement is expected later this week, early information gives us a solid picture of what to expect, and it’s shaping up to be one of the standout releases of early 2026.
Release Date and Product Line-Up
Pokémon Ascended Heroes is scheduled for release on 30 January, arriving just as the competitive season and collecting year begin to ramp up. As with previous special sets, it won’t follow the structure of a standard mainline expansion. Instead, it will come with a curated selection of premium and collector-focused products. At present, the planned line-up includes:
Elite Trainer Box
Premium Poster Collection
Tech Sticker Collections
Trainer’s Blisters
Special Collection
It’s worth noting that this product assortment is subject to change, but it already hints at a broad spread of offerings, catering to both players and collectors. Special sets typically contain exclusive promotional cards, unique packaging, and high-appeal chase cards, so anticipation is already building.
What’s Inside: Cards from Japan’s MEGA Dream ex Set
As expected, Ascended Heroes will draw heavily from Japan’s highly awaited MEGA Dream ex set, which launches on 28 November. The Japanese release is generating excitement thanks to its headline star: Mega Dragonite ex. With its nostalgic design, modern mechanics, and collector appeal, Mega Dragonite ex is almost guaranteed to be one of the most sought-after cards once the English set lands.
If previous set structures are anything to go by, Ascended Heroes will likely compile not only the main cards from MEGA Dream ex but also various supporting cards, thematic artworks, and perhaps even some exclusive English-language promotional prints.
Start Deck 100 Battle Collection: More Cards on the Way
Japan’s Pokémon TCG schedule doesn’t stop with MEGA Dream ex. On 19 December, Japanese players will also receive the Start Deck 100 Battle Collection, a massive series of 100 different theme decks. These products traditionally include a mix of brand-new cards and reprints designed for easy entry into the game.
While the exact English localisation plan has not yet been confirmed, it’s highly likely that some, or even most, of the new cards featured in these 100 decks will be distributed through Ascended Heroes. Special sets often act as a catch-all for cards that don’t slot neatly into main expansions, making them ideal for this kind of release.
Hype Levels Rising
Between the promise of Mega Dragonite ex, the potential inclusion of dozens of new cards from the Start Deck 100 Battle Collection, and a diverse product range, Ascended Heroes is shaping up to be a major highlight of the early-year Pokémon TCG calendar. Whether you’re a completionist, a competitive player, or a collector chasing iconic artwork, this set looks ready to deliver.
